Your Opportunity


We are looking for a passionate teacher who is comfortable teaching language, literacy, and numeracy to adults using adult learning principles.

You will be responsible for ensuring the cultural safety of Aboriginal students through an awareness of cultural practices and an understanding of the adult lives and responsibilities of the students.

Consulting and negotiating with students in a manner respectful of their adult lives and responsibilities.


This is an exciting opportunity based at our Armadale site for an experienced Teacher who is passionate about helping Indigenous students thrive.

The successful applicant will join a dynamic team of educators and support staff.

  • 15 hours/week (3 days)
  • Fixedterm contract until 30 June 2024

Key Responsibilities

  • Use strategies suitable for adults who are developing readers, writers, and language learners; and adults developing their numeracy skills.
  • Teach to a mixed cultural and level class responding to individual needs.
  • Ensure student achievement.
  • Ensure practices and processes adhere to AQTF.
  • Help students achieve units in CGEA through projectbased learning.
  • Provide a place of safety and support for student learning.

Selection Criteria:


Essential

  • Tertiary Degree in Adult Education;
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) including TAELLN411;
  • Experience in delivering the Certificate in General Education for Adults (CGEA).
  • Experience in teaching both native English speakers and those with English as an additional language.
  • Proficient Computer skills; and
  • A current National Police Clearance and a Working with Children Check.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated success working with atrisk groups.
  • Experience in using the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
