At Perenti Contract Mining we are passionate about the growth of our people and as a testament to this, we have an exciting opportunity available This position provides Technical Subject Matter Expertise, specialising in surface and underground mining technologies and automation.

Whilst delivering and supporting automation and digital technologies in line with the Contract Mining business and functional requirements.

This is a permanent role, based at our offices in Hazelmere or Canningvale


Key accountabilities & responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day support priorities and coordinate teams schedules.
  • Monitoring system performance and configuration management, resolves issues and implement required updates to improve the overall performance.
  • Provide remote and onsite support for mining technology and automation.
  • Ensure mining technologies operate in an acceptable standard through monitoring system performance and configuration management.
  • Develops new and improves current systems and process, and procedures.
  • Creating and providing project support documentation, during and at the completion of projects.
  • Creating and maintaining knowledge base for internal resources
  • Provide guidance and develop guidelines to empower clients and sites to operate and support onsite technologies and systems.
  • Ensure that your manager is informed and involved in all relevant matters that may have significant effect on the profitability, reputation, and public profile of the company.
  • Manage OEM support Models and Manage SLA agreements with OEM's.
  • Effectively ensure that all new technologies are embedded in standard procedures through the different company systems (document control, HSE, Maintenance, Operations).
  • Review and continuously drive improvement and standardisation where applicable to ensure cost effectiveness through cost reviews and studies.
  • Manage onsite audits on all technology systems and automation systems when required.
  • Provide tools for remote technical support for automation and mining technology systems.
  • Develop and test technologies, including on machine installations and testing.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationship with internal and external Stakeholders, to achieve Contract Mining goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and provide necessary analysis required for project justification.
  • Assist Managers with Technology initiative queries.
  • Help and support positive commercial interactions.
  • Ability to negotiate and achieve favourable business outcomes with suppliers.
  • High level relationship building skills with external and internal stakeholders, authorities, organisations & individuals.
  • Embraces and supports implementation of change and new initiatives within the Perenti business.
  • Demonstrates resilience and leads by example.
  • Alignment to and support of the Contract Mining Technology team roadmap
  • Cooperate and build positive working relationships with team members, clients, and stakeholders to deliver enduring value.
  • Provide leadership and management of your team in support of your and their objectives.
  • Develop competency management plans to upskill and develop internal teams.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • 5 7 years of Surface and or Underground Mining experience required.
  • Mining Systems, automation systems and Mobile Equipment Knowledge/experience desired
  • Operational Technology focused knowledge/experience (Automation, Programming, Mining Systems,
  • Control Room Systems, Maintenance) essential
  • Technology Implementation/Commissioning experience desired
  • Understanding of IT systems, software, networking.
  • Change Management Experience desired.
  • Use of SAP or ERP systems
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Have very high attention to detail and a strong quality focus, with strong conceptual and analytical skills.
  • Team player, collaborative and solutions orientated.
  • Technical background required (Auto Electrical, Electrical, Mechanical, Mining Engineer, Technology
  • Degree, Mechatronics Engineering)
  • First Aid Certification (desired)
  • C Class Drivers Licence
