DESF provides staff to various SIL Providers in WA with services from administration to disability support workers.


Description:


As a Disability Support Staff member at Disability Empowerment and Support Foundation, you will play a vital role in providing essential support to individuals with disabilities in the Perth Area.

position within the Support Staff department offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing personalised care and assistance to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and comfort.
  • Supporting individuals with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and mobility assistance.
  • Assisting in the implementation of individual support plans and monitoring progress towards set goals.
  • Engaging clients in social and recreational activities to promote social inclusion and overall well-being.
  • Maintaining accurate records of client interactions, progress, and any incidents or concerns that may arise.

Main Tasks:

  • Delivering high-quality care and support services tailored to each individual's specific needs and preferences.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective coordination of care for clients.
  • Upholding confidentiality, dignity, and respect for all individuals while promoting independence and self-determination.
  • Responding promptly to emergency situations or challenging behaviours using appropriate techniques as per established protocols.

Skills and Experiences:


  • Experience working with people with disabilities in a support capacity
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with individuals with diverse needs and abilities
  • Understanding of disability rights and advocacy
  • Ability to provide physical and emotional support to individuals with disabilities
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to supporting individuals with disabilities
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations related to disability support services
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the evolving needs of the individuals being supported
First Aid Certification,

Current CPR Certification,

NDIS Screening Certificate

Manual Handling Certification.

A Current Drivers License


On the job training will be provided to gain further certifications highly sought after for employees in the disability support Role.
