Southern Cross Care (SA, NT & VIC) Inc.

are seeking volunteers who can assist in supporting residents/clients to engage in meaningful social and leisure activities at McCracken Views Residential Care, located in McCracken.


Volunteers have many skills and life experiences that can assist in enhancing the quality of life of our residents by creating opportunities for them to blossom.

We look forward to hearing from you if you are interested in any of the following roles:


  • Providing companionship to residents who may not have family/friends nearby. This may include playing a game of chess, doing crosswords or just having a cup of tea and a chat
  • Supporting a gardening group or Men's Shed
  • Assisting with art and craft groups, bus trips and other leisure activities
  • Entertaining residents with a special talent (e.g. music, acting, dancing etc.)
We also embrace new and creative ways of supporting the quality of life of our residents.

If you have an specific idea or activity that you think our residents would benefit from, we encourage you to get in touch and discuss a bespoke volunteering opportunity.


Time required:


We appreciate the commitment and support of our volunteers and work with each one to arrange the most suitable days and times for them to volunteer with us.

Any time you give is valuable, be it 3 days a week or a few hours per month.


Our preferred times for new volunteers at the moment are [days & times], though we would welcome volunteers with availability outside of these times.

Set days and times are applicable for Bus Trips which are held on Monday 10am-12pm and Thursday 1pm-3.30pm.

All volunteers require the following;

  • A current National Police Certificate for the Purpose of Aged Care, or be willing to obtain one
  • Evidence you have received the 2023 Influenza Vaccination


In addition, as per the Australian Government mandate for Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF), Southern Cross Care requires that all volunteers based at a RACF are to be vaccinated, and require proof that they have received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
