About the role

Following a team realignment, a new leadership position has been created to support Councils commitment to holistic wellbeing and a safety-first culture.


Leading the Wellbeing and Safety team and reporting to the Chief People officer, you will help us to create a workplace where employees can be at their best, physically and psychologically.


This role will lead and refocus our Wellbeing and Safety Team to drive and deliver future focused and agile safety systems, strategies, plans and practices across the organisation.


  • Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:_
  • Drive a safetyfirst culture across the organisation developing approaches to mitigate risk, prevent workplace incident and provide early intervention to ensure positive outcomes
  • Develop, implement, and continually improve on organisationwide health safety and wellbeing systems, culture, policy, processes, and systems.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to leaders to drive change and a culture of safety.
  • Lead, motivate, coach and mentor the passionate and committed Wellbeing and Safety team

About you

With a significant background in health safety and wellbeing including injury prevention programming, you're friendly, approachable, engaging and incredibly passionate about employee safety.


It is essential you have experience in developing and implementing strategic wellbeing and safety systems and practices, driving organisational safety culture and leading a team.


You have a strong customer focus with the ability to build trust and rapport at all levels; and when it comes to giving advice, you have a warm, flexible approach and use common sense.
