About the role
We are looking for a highly motivated and curious Actuarial Analyst to join our Reinsurance and Capital team.

You will support the effective administration of the reinsurance premiums, recoveries and reporting processes.

To excel in this role, you will have an in depth understanding of data sources and effectively manipulate these for analysis.

You can expect to be dealing with people right across the organisation and externally including brokers and reinsurers.

Duties include:

Calculating reinsurance premiums.
Monthly reporting to reinsurers and the processing of recoveries.
Review claims attached to catastrophe events.
Prepare data for the reinsurance renewal process.
Assist with adhoc reviews of reinsurance treaties requested by management.
Prepare data and assumptions for catastrophe modelling.
Respond to adhoc requests from brokers, reinsurance markets and the management team as required.
Identify and act on opportunities to improve the timeliness or accuracy of reporting processes.
Embracing the culture of best practice risk management within the team, including technical and peer review.

About you

Pre-requisites:

Relevant Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or related studies (Mathematics, Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or Computer Science).
Strong attention to detail and passion for improving processes.
A continuous learning mindset for obtaining knowledge and understanding of actuarial and general insurance concepts.
Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
The ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Minimum of 23 years' relevant experience in the provision of actuarial services in the general insurance industry, specifically reserving or reinsurance related.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
High level of integrity and professional accountability.

Nice to have / Preferred:

Progress towards an actuarial qualification.
Understanding of IFRS 1
Experience in programming languages such as SQL, SAS, R, Python and C#.
Strong grasp of Australian Financial Services regulatory frameworks.
Knowledge of professional actuarial standards.
