About the role

Our Employee Relations Team are a critical function that supports the employee relations capability across our organisation.

The team deliver specialist advice and expertise across a range of employee relations initiatives, including negotiating and administering industrial instruments, managing employee disputes and grievances, and driving proactive employee relations initiatives.


We now have a newly created opportunity for an Employee Relations Manager - Planning & Analysis to join our Collingwood based team.

Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations, and working closely with the broader HR community and people leaders, your accountabilities will include:


  • Managing the Employee and Industrial Relations environment within your specific portfolio including enterprise agreement negotiations, complex case management and advocacy before the Fair Work Commission
  • Assisting with the project management of the EBA negotiation process and other negotiations outside of EBA for all relevant agreements, including development of business cases for signoff, research, strategy, negotiation, implementation and training
  • Undertaking program management and analytical projects, including leading the preparation of material in Excel and PowerPoint to assist the Employee Relations team in discussing and presenting proposals, analysis and information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Preparing material and gaining consensus and support in seeking approvals from relevant steering groups and committees to ensure effective and timely project decision making
  • Utilising data and insights to improve employee relations outcomes in areas such as payroll compliance and BOOT assessments, in addition to coordinating modelling and gap analysis of enterprise agreements, awards and labour costs both within and outside the Qantas Group to identify and address current and future workforce issues across the business
  • Managing, on behalf of Jetstar, compliance requirements for the maintenance of various labour hire licences
About You


We are searching for an experienced employee relations specialist (5+ years) whom has complimented their employee relations experience with exposure to change and project management and EBA implementations.

To compliment your skills in business partnering and stakeholder management, you will have found strength in the areas of analytics and business case development.

To achieve success in this role, you will ideally demonstrate the following skills & experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law, employee relations or related discipline
  • Employee Relations experience in a large, fast paced organisation, ideally including a large operational workforce
  • Understanding of current compliance practices including a solid working knowledge of the Fair Work Act and other relevant employment/industrial laws
  • Experience working with and interpreting industrial instruments and drafting of employment related documentation
  • Superior analytical skills and strong working knowledge of MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint
  • Strong organisation and coordination skills and a willingness to engage in an element of administrative work
  • Strong work ethic and preparedness to travel interstate or to New Zealand and to sometimes be away from home overnight.
