A spectacular blend of cultivated garden and wilderness tracts within the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah is an 'island within an island' that plays a key role in conservation and research of plants from a range of diverse ecosystems in Australia and around the world.


The Garden features many rare species, spectacular cool climate trees, seasonal colour, historically significant plantings and tranquil spaces for picnics or forest bathing.


About the Role


Our Ornamental Gardens team is currently seeking a
Horticultural
Labourer who will contribute to the construction and maintenance of horticultural displays within the Blue Mountain Botanic Garden.

This is the ideal role for someone who is passionate about plants, and works effectively both independently and as part of a team.


What we are looking for

  • Relevant experience in the maintenance of gardens, horticultural displays and landscaped areas including weed control and a basic knowledge of plant pests and diseases.
  • Experience in the use and maintenance of relevant horticultural and landscape machinery and equipment.
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated capacity to implement occupational health and safety policy and practices.
  • Someone that is selfmotivated, has the ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions and can work within a team.
  • Someone who can support the development and maintenance of horticultural and landscape areas in accordance with Botanic Gardens policies and procedures.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a group of world-leading staff from the fields of science and horticulture.


Essential Requirements

  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated capacity to implement occupational health and safety policy and practices.
  • Current driver's licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles
  • Has the ability to lift and carry a minimum 15 kilos.
  • Ability to work outside of normal working hours and on weekends if required.
