Position Information:


Kingsgrove High School is a dynamic comprehensive high school with a coeducational enrolment of 730 students, including 85% of students from a background where English is an additional language or dialect.

The school has a tradition of excellence and supports students in academic achievement, the arts, sport, student leadership, co-curricular activities and community service.

The school offers a broad curriculum catering for all learners with emphasis on quality teaching, student engagement and academic achievement.


There are strong programs in language development for students who have come from Intensive English Centres, literacy and numeracy, information communication technology, student welfare and leadership.

As well as a diverse curriculum, students enjoy a variety of performing and creative arts and vocational education programs. The school has a Support Unit, which is an integrated and highly value part of the school community.

Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated capacity to meet the diverse learning and wellbeing needs of all students in HSIE with the ability to develop and implement quality teaching and assessment programs to build student engagement and support high expectations
  • Highly developed ability to work successfully and productively with the school executive team to analyse data and to lead, implement and support whole school priorities and strategic directions
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to strengthen a team culture, to lead a faculty with diverse experience and build positive relationships

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
