About the Team


As part of our dedicated and innovative Community & Culture Directorate, the Cultural Services unit are responsible for ensuring Council's Cultural Strategy and its associated actions are delivered to the community.

This includes the development, planning, organisation and staging of programs and events for the Musem & Gallery.

About the Internal Opportunity


This is a key role which will contribute to the Hurstville Museum & Gallery's vision by developing and delivering a range of public programs and educative opportunities for the Georges River community.


In this role you will oversee the promotion, evaluation of programs and events as well as provide assistance with public enquiries and exhibition development.

What we're looking for
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Museum Studies, Fine Arts, Education or related fields.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Demonstrated experience as a program deliverer, teacher or teacher's aide.
  • Experience in the preparation and delivery of programs and events.
  • Experience in promoting events to wide audiences through a variety of methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate continuous improvements to public programs.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including effective negotiation, consultation and consensus building.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret social history and/or visual art practices, making them accessible to a range of audiences.
  • Strong commitment to and proven ability to deliver a quality customer focused service for diverse clients and user groups.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to change.
  • Demonstrated commitment to EEO, WH&S and the principles for a culturally diverse society.
  • Must be fully vaccinated (minimum 2 doses) with an approved COVID19 vaccine and provide Council with evidence of vaccination, or an accepted certified medical contraindication. Council reserves the right to confirm the validity of contraindications in accordance with NSW Health guidelines, and to direct a Worker to undertake an independent medical examination in relation to the issuance of a medical contraindication certificate.
