We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join us as a Community Safety Coordinator.

In this role, you will lead the Community Safety team in engaging in community outreach, education, and enforcement efforts to improve community well-being and safety.


Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Provide effective leadership to the Community Safety Officers, ensuring the successful implementation of community outreach, education, and enforcement initiatives.
  • Exercise legislated authority under relevant legislation, including but not limited to the Dog & Cat Management Act, Road Traffic Act, and others.
  • Provide expert technical advice to the Community Safety Officers, other sections/departments and public on community safety matters.
  • Responsible for the coordination of operational community safety programs/projects and initiatives which meet legal obligations and deliver positive outcomes for the community.
  • Acting as an escalation point for Community Safety Officers for complex matters and complaints.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategies aimed at enhancing community safety.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community safety programs and initiatives, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
  • Assist in providing after hours support to Community Safety Officers.
  • Prepare investigation briefs for court proceedings and represent Council as required.

The successful applicant will have:


  • A current Australian Driver's Licence.
  • A qualification in investigations (or equivalent) highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably in community safety, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Significant experience within a complex community safety or regulatory role is essential.
  • Training and experience in conflict management, negotiation and mediation.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory obligations and compliance requirements related to community safety.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide support and direction to a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

This is a Level 5 position which has a current salary range of $100,784 - $105,336 per annum (plus superannuation).
