About the role and where you will be working:

The Learning and Development Educator works within a small team to deliver professional development excellence across Southern Cross Care (WA) Residential Care, Home Care and Disability Services.

This role has the primary responsibility for the review and evaluation of Mandatory training competencies across the organisation but will also facilitate clinical education delivery for areas of identified need.

The aged care sector is one of rapid growth and transformation requiring a dedicated and passionate advisor to assist mandatories to remain current and education to remain relevant.


This part time position is located in our central office in Rivervale but has the flexibility to work from home as needed.


About you:

This person needs to be registered nurse with aged care background. Preference for someone who has manual handling training experience. Needs to have a component of previous education delivery. Cert IV in training and assessment preferable.


We'll also be asking you to:

  • Plan, review and facilitate learning opportunities/in-service to enable staff to achieve and maintain competency in mandatory legislated competencies.
  • Provide clinical support and role development for nurses and acts as a clinical resource person for the organisation as required.
  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for graduate nurses, student nurses and preceptors supporting these junior staff.
  • Contribute to the monitoring, development and review of policies and procedures, orientation manuals and other documentation as required.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping of education and training activities and provides monthly reports against key performance indicators to the Learning and Development Manager
  • Support the delivery of safe patient care and the consumers' experience including participation in continuous quality improvement activities in accordance with the requirements of the organisation.
  • Engage in continuing professional development/education and ensures continuous registration in the category of Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
