Partner with Business Units across the Council- Provide HR Strategic and Operational Advice
- REM (LG
- Band 6) range approx. $93K $98K + Super (dep. on experience)
Reporting directly to the Employee Relations Lead, the roles sit within the People Support Department, in the Customer & Corporate Support Division.
The positions key objectives include:
HR Service Delivery
- Provide specialist advice and coaching to management and staff regarding employee / industrial relation matters including performance management, grievances, and investigations.
- Support departments in workforce planning and restructures
- Provide advice on appropriate recruitment strategies and support in the development of position descriptions and advertisements, advertising, interviews and selection.
- Review position descriptions and classifications of positions to ensure that all positions are assessed against the established classification criteria.
- Review, develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
- Assist with the interpretation of awards, agreements, policies, and Council's Enterprise Agreement, advising staff and management appropriately.
- Provide advice, identify risks, and support departments through restructures
- Work closely with the Injury Management team to assist in the management of Council employee's health conditions
- Contribute to or lead HR projects and initiatives.
- Participate in professional development and networking opportunities to keep abreast of 'best practice' in strategic human resources.
- Support the Employee Relations Lead and team members in a collaborative manner, promoting and driving projects, programs, and initiatives and the organisational values.
- Actively contribute ideas, initiatives and continuous improvement as part of the Employee Relations team.
- Providing advice and guidance to the HR Officers and administration staff as required
- Work with all members of the team to ensure accurate and consistent advice is provided to management and staff across the organisation.
Essential Skills and Experience required:
- A relevant qualification in human resources with relevant experience, or lesser formal qualification with as a human resources practitioner.
- Demonstrated ER/IR experience, particularly in performance management
- Previous Local Government experience is desirable.
- Covid Vaccinations certificate and probity checks and drivers licence will be required.
