About the Role:

The BI team makes data accessible for fire preparedness in Victorian communities. They provide reliable data to various stakeholders, including community programs, project leaders, media, and emergency agencies. The GIS Data Officer oversees geospatial data updates, ensuring accuracy and availability throughout its lifecycle.

The role also promotes data quality and accuracy responsibility among business owners using geospatial data in CFA systems or processes.


More specifically you will:

Provide guidance on spatial data management, maintain data repositories, and ensure accurate retrieval. Develop and manage spatial data sets in line with standards. Administer coordinate systems for operational precision. Facilitate controlled sharing of spatial data, support business plan activities, and offer technical guidance to stakeholders. Recommend process changes for accuracy, stay current on expertise, and cultivate stakeholder relationships. Assist in training for product implementation.


About You:


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience with demonstrated skills and understanding of Geographic Information Systems.
  • Understanding of statewide, seamless spatial datasets.
  • Exposure to spatial issues related to data preparation, data management and metadata within the Australian context.
  • Excellent communication skills to build effective working relationships
  • High attention to detail to ensure data quality standards are met.
