Procurement Business Partner, Ongoing, Based from Sydney CBD, Parramatta or Gosford


The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is looking for an enthusiastic and team-orientated individual to provide high quality specialist services to Executive DCS stakeholders of the Corporate Services Procurement Team.

The successful applicant will be part of a functional team of six specialists.

The role is to deliver expert procurement advice, guidance, and services to designated business areas (Agencies) to enable them to effectively identify and manage their procurement needs.

This role is fully accountable for the delivery of work assignments on time and to expectations in terms of quality, deliverables, and outcomes.


This position involves working in a fast-paced environment with the opportunity to grow and develop in a supportive and collaborative team.

The right applicant will be a team player willing to hit the ground running, who can work independently and be client focused.

An advanced knowledge of procurement acumen will need to be demonstrated.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in our team. The team sits within the Corporate Services Division of DCS, reporting to the DCS Chief Operating Officer.

Corporate Procurement has four functions within the team:
Office of the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), Business Partnering, Sourcing, and Centre of Excellence.

This role sits within the Business Partnering team and reports directly to the Chief Procurement Officer.

The Business Partnering team will service DCS Agencies including but not limited to Service NSW, Customer Delivery & Transformation, Revenue NSW, Digital.

NSW, State Insurance Regulatory Authority, Corporate Services, and Better Regulation Division.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Provide authoritative expert advice to key Executive stakeholders on all aspects of the procurement function to encourage innovative practices, achieve delivery of business outcomes and support policy directions
  • Provide guidance and support to customers and stakeholders including a cross functional team of procurement specialist to efficiently source goods and services in line with corporate and government procurement framework and guidelines
  • Partner with business leaders to identify business priorities and procurement needs, including identifying resource requirements and aligning support activities to meet business needs and maximise value
  • Work with stakeholder group to achieve value for money and compliance to the NSW Procurement Framework
  • Lead stakeholder engagement to develop and implement procurement plans and strategies to meet business needs and align with corporate procurement strategies and compliance requirements
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, systems, and performance management frameworks for all procurement related activity to ensure a high level of professional practice and deliver compliant, effective and efficient procurement outcomes

You have demonstrable experience delivering excellence in commercial outcomes, sustainable procurement and brokering value for our customers and communities of NSW.

This role suits an expert with experience in a complex procurement environment and perhaps an industry with regulatory frameworks.

You will understand expectations set by your superior and use effective skills to manage up as well as down for efficiency and trust to meet business objectives.
