About the Role
This is a key role within our Advisory team designed to support our growing planning expertise and capability.

The role will support high quality planning outcomes across Development Victoria's current portfolio of urban renewal projects as well as prospective new projects, through the provision of statutory, strategic and development planning input, advice, and review.


About You

  • Experience shaping, framing and scope projects through our frontend development advice to set up for project success.
  • Ability to provide frank, fearless and insightful advice to stakeholders and clients across the full range of DV projects.
  • Be a collaborator that provides focused advice and services that contribute to the delivery of enhanced project outcomes and seek to maximise value creation opportunities.
  • Demonstrate strong strategic thinking that supports DV in the development of best practice outcomes.
  • Be a valued advisor with a strong and wellestablished network across DV and government.
  • Have a welldeveloped understanding of how government works and can "join the dots" between government, DV and industry.
  • Help other parts of Development Victoria translate policy objectives into deliverable solutions.
  • Assist in the preparation of strategic plans and appropriate statutory planning controls and guidelines which implement effective built form and public realm outcomes.
  • Experience maintaining an awareness of risks relevant to their area of responsibility and implement effective risk management practices.
Key Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in urban planning
  • Good knowledge and/or experience of working within the Victorian Planning system.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning due diligence activities.
  • Ability to understand and unpack planning controls and strategic plans, including planning scheme amendments.
  • Experience working in the public or private sector providing expert advice, evaluation, and assessments of planning and urban design issues.
  • Experience working in a complex multidisciplinary team to deliver large urban scale development projects
  • Provide planning input and advice in relation to due diligence undertaken for potential new projects,
  • Provide strategic and statutory planning advice to support the Civic Projects, Precincts, Property and Commonwealth Games groups.
