The role
This is a Senior role reporting into Head Of/General Manager level responsible for the developing and embedding all aspects of underwriting risk, including pricing risk, underwriting product risk and underwriting standards.
The role will build a plan to rollout the component parts of the Enterprise risk framework in a well sequenced and efficient manner that provides maximum value, the wider Enterprise Risk team and leadership.
The role will ensure the plan is agreed with all key stakeholders and is supported by adequate resourcing and Subject Matter Expertise in its execution.
In your new role, on a day-to-day basis you will- Deliver and embed the Enterprise Risk Management framework across all aspects of Underwriting.
- Work with management to determine appropriate risk management responses to risk situations as necessary.
- Recommend, implement and lead initiatives that impact on the longerterm risk management effectiveness of the business.
- Embedding of these risk processes and tools
- Maintain a strong network with risk professionals both across the Group and externally.
- Second line oversight and challenge of internal processes and controls including monitoring the timeliness of control performance.
- Leverage resources within the risk team and broader Group to assist the rollout of the Enterprise Risk Management framework to the group Risk and Group Underwriting functions. Use the outputs of other departments, adopt for specific needs and review the fitness for purpose.
To be successful you will have extensive experience within Underwriting or Underwriting risk, preferably in Commercial property.
You will also have;
- Ability to influence Group Chief Underwriting Office and Group Risk Senior Management and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Ability to manage and deliver conflicting priorities.
- Able to identify opportunities to improve processes.
