What you'll be doing

This primary purpose of the Towards Zero Suicide Service Manager is to manage and develop the Towards Zero Suicide (TZS) Services, namely Safe Haven and the Suicide Prevention Outreach Team (SPOT).

Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) delivers two TZS suicide prevention services, Safe Haven and SPOT.

Both services aim to provide an alternative to presenting to Emergency Department for people experiencing suicidal distress or in suicidal crisis.

Safe Haven is a non-clinical drop-in service operationalised by a team of Peer Workers with lived experience of suicide. SPOT provides mobile outreach by a team of Peer Workers and Senior Mental Health Clinicians (SMHC).

Both services have been co-designed with people with lived experience and health professionals and adopt a compassionate care model to support consumer (also referred to as patients or clients) centric service provisions.

The TZS Service Manager will provide clinical and operational management expertise to a team of SMHCs and Peer Workers.

This position will provide strategic planning support, coordinate service delivery and ongoing evaluation, lead required change management processes, consolidate reporting across services and be responsible for the continuous supervision of the staff for the Safe Haven and SPOT services.

The Service Manager will maintain a clinical role in service delivery.

They will manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, delivering in-services to build the profile of the services, liaising and providing consultation to staff and managers of other mental and general health teams and relevant external agencies and where appropriate developing integrated care pathways for optimal consumer outcomes.

The TZS Service Manager is also responsible for ensuring the TZS staff comply with professional and organisational obligations in relation to policies and procedures, risk management, and notifications in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Reporting to the TZS Program Manager, this position will lead the continuous development of models of care for Safe Haven and SPOT by drawing on recent research evidence, best practice, consultation with consumers, carers and partner organisations.

With the Safe Haven and SPOT services operating afterhours, after hours work is a requirement of the role.
