Who are we looking for?


Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Sport Performance Lead to join HiQ, Student Services and Wellbeing, Administrative Division.


The Sport Performance Lead undertakes a leadership role across all facets of high performance sport at QUT and in partnership with industry.

The role is responsible for the strategic and operational development of the Elite Athlete Program, industry relations and partnerships with peak bodies, and performance based initiatives that align with curriculum and work-integrated learning.

Specifically, the Sport Performance Lead will be responsible for developing the student-athlete career and development program that aligns QUT with commercial industry partners enabling student-athlete graduate outcomes that are industry leading.

The role will also manage QUT Sport's research activities that are coordinated across the University with partnering faculties and industry organisations.

Managing a small team of staff, developing and coordinating well-structured plans and activities across internal and external stakeholders will be required to achieve the objectives of the role.

The position is required to work within the Student Engagement and Sport teams and across University with faculties and professional divisions to ensure performance based sport activities are cohesive and align with the strategies and action plans of sport at QUT.

The position will also manage stakeholder relations external to the University including peak bodies, community organisations, State Government and various suppliers/partners of the University.

The Student Services and Wellbeing portfolio leads the university-wide strategy and coordination of all non-academic matters related to the student experience.

The portfolio of Student Services and Wellbeing delivers a range of services across the student life cycle, as well as providing advice and leadership to the university on a broad range of student and staff matters, including social justice and public policy.


Student Services and Wellbeing consists of the following departments: Student Administration, HiQ, Equity, Student Services and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE).

The portfolio also has strong links to and works closely with QUT's Oodgeroo Unit and Human Resources.

Student Engagement comprises of HiQ Contact Centre and Service Points, Future Student & Conversion, Engagement teams, and Sport.

HiQ is the university's contact point for members of the public, staff, prospective and current student enquiries and support services.

Services to students and staff include general information, IT support, Library, and student administration. Engagement with future students and their orientation to the QUT student experience is a core focus of Student Engagement.

The Engagement team is responsible for delivering co-curricular programs that further build QUT's sense of community and support students to develop their professional identity, networks, and employability.

QUT sport has strategic and operational oversight of sport activities and programs at QUT.


What you need to succeed

You will demonstrate:

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience within the National sporting industry or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead crossfunctional teams to provide coherent, consistent and effective Sporting programs and initiatives, to achieve business objectives.
