The Role

The Skills and Training Group is responsible for administering programs and policies on behalf of the Australian Government to help people develop the skills they need to gain employment and build their careers.

We also work with stakeholders to build strong sustainable skills and training systems to allow Australians to skill and reskill in response to changing technology and workforce needs.

We are seeking motivated and high performing individuals to fill various data specialist roles at the APS4-6 levels in the following divisions in the Skills and Training Group:

  • Apprenticeships and Foundation Skills Division
  • Careers and International Skills Division
  • Industry Engagement and Quality Division
  • Strategic Policy and Projects Division
  • VET Data, Loans and Compliance Division
  • National Skills Agreement Taskforce

Duties and Responsibilities

The key duties of the APS4 position include:

  • Drafting documents appropriate for a range of audiences, including briefings, minutes, correspondence and reports with high complexity and to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.
  • Coordinate responses to requests for information.
  • Provide secretariat support to committees or working groups as required.

In addition, the APS 5 role duties include:

  • Communicating to a wide variety of stakeholders processes and providing advice to support the delivery of outcomes.

In addition, the APS6 role duties include:

  • Supervising staff.
  • Understanding the wider organisation goals and priorities and integrate into secretariat and other administrative processes.
  • Liaise with Senior Executives to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes through the delivery of highquality administrative tasks.
