About the role:


The Mental Health Centre of Excellence & Innovation is the organisational lead in building and enhancing Mental Health Literacy across the workforce and achievements to date have been significant.

In response to the Better Mental Health for Emergency Workers Initiatives announced by the State Government in 2018, a Clinical Project Lead is required to assist with the defining, delivery and management of Early Intervention and Prevention Fund (EIPF) projects until 30 June 2024.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Clinical Project Lead will manage a small, multi-disciplinary team of professionals.

The position will be required to develop, implement, facilitate, and evaluate mental health interventions, including Reflective Practice and Trauma Recovery and Resilience Group programs.

Your duties will include:


  • Providing clinical and managerial oversight and professional supervision, for clinical and organisational issues, to a small multidisciplinary team.
  • Leading and working within a project management environment; including the development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of largescale projects, including group programs.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of current evidencebased practices and emerging trends to inform mental health and wellbeing projects and initiatives.
  • Contributing to external project working groups and liaison with various government departments.
  • Monitoring and managing compliance relating to ethical, legal, and organisational requirements, in accordance with legislative and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Developing and presenting project progress reports and documentation to the satisfaction of reporting requirements.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
  • Demonstrated high level clinical expertise, including the ability to make autonomous judgements in complex environments.
  • Extensive experience in the development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of group interventions.
  • Highly developed written, verbal communication and presentation skills, to effectively provide high level advice and influence, and to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to provide advice and make decisions on issues of individual and organisation psychological risk within a complex and diverse organisation, in line with ethical and legal requirements.

Requirements and relevant information:


  • One (1) x fulltime, fixed term (until 30 June 2024) position available.
  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Registration number must be provided; or
  • Registration as a Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Proof of registration must be provided.
  • Masters or equivalent qualification in either psychology or social work is desirable.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands, however, travel within Victoria will be required.
