As Operations Manager for Victoria, and you will manage the day-to-day safety and operational requirements throughout Victoria by the utilisation of fleet and resources, maintaining a strong understanding of customer requirements and close relations with customers.
You will identify opportunities to innovate solutions to continuously improve the safety, profitability, operational effectiveness, people management and systems.Duties
- Ensure all drivers arrive for their shifts are in a fit state to perform duties, including no fatigue, and meet all operational requirements.
- Complete monthly safety KPIs to achieve financial year targets.
- Undertake scheduling of the loading that achieves optimal utilisation of fleet and resources.
- Interact frequently with customers to determine demand and site requirements.
- Monitoring stock levels and be able to respond and adjust schedules and plans to manage variances, emergencies and other factors that require different approaches.
- Provide emergency response and coordination for emergencies involving trucks or operators on designated shifts.
- Schedule and implement a structure for maintaining routine and regular servicing and maintenance of trucks and trailers.
- Ensure all fleet vehicles have current permits and registrations.
- Audits for the businesses NHVR compliance.
- Manage customer site maps.
Skills & experience
- Previous experience scheduling day to day operations for drivers journeys in line with customer demand.
- Previous experience working in an environment where load/unload activity occurs in a transport/logistics or similar industry with similar levels of complexity.
- Proven experience in a role with responsibility for organizing and supervising the work of others, including planning, and allocating of fleet trucks, or similar vehicles.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of Victoria.
- Experience in a role with responsibility for workplace safety outcomes.
- Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and intranet systems
- Ideally someone with dangerous goods background
- Strong people leadership skills a must
