About the program


The
Ngarra Jarra Aboriginal Health Program is committed to promoting the highest level of care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples by providing culturally appropriate and safe care to patients, their families and communities.

The Ngarra Jarra Aboriginal Health Program services all three campuses of Austin Health, including the Emergency Department through to bed-based services, and ongoing ambulatory care.


About the role


As the
Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer you will work collaboratively within a supportive team who are passionate about providing culturally supportive and best practice care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

The AHLO is essential in providing culturally safe care to patients and carries responsibilities for supporting patients throughout their stay, effective liaison and linkage between Austin Health and community services.

The AHLO is involved in developing and implementing several culturally responsive initiatives, improving access and availability to services, supporting and maintaining positive relationships with the community.

This position will suit someone who has experience working in Aboriginal communities and experience in providing support and advocacy.
