About Us
Canberra Vet Emergency Service (CVES) is looking to hire a junior veterinary assistant in a casual capacity. This role has the opportunity for progression to a permanent part-time role for the right person

At CVES we are available to help critical and unwell patients when they need it most. We operate from 6pm to 8am on weeknights, and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays. We have varied shift hours available to suit your needs, including afternoon, overnight and weekend days which is perfect for work life flexibility, while also saving lives and supporting clients

About the Role

Our Vet Nurse Assistant team members are trained to help support both the Nursing and Veterinary staff, giving you an introduction into the world of emergency and critical care.

Your main tasks are supporting the nursing team and assisting with laboratory tests, animal restraint and outpatient care.


About You

  • A love for providing the best care to animals of all shapes and sizes
  • Cert II/III in animal studies or studying a Cert IV in veterinary nursing/Bachelor of veterinary technology
  • Strong work ethic (happy to chip in and support the team)
  • Flexibility across our operating hours (weeknights, early mornings, weekends and public holidays)
  • Desire for a long career within the veterinary industry (potentially even further studies)
