What the day will look like: Placement Executive - Construction*****Within Aon Risk Solutions the Placement Executive will support broking leverage insurance markets locally and globally to obtain the best results for our clients. This is achieved through delivering insurance placement solutions crafted specifically to meet the unique needs and risks faced by Aon's clients across the construction industry.


Reporting to the Head of Placement - Construction you will be responsible for developing and assisting to develop innovative insurance solutions for a range of clients across Aon's Construction Practice encompassing company & agency markets.


  • Working with the Construction practice team and broking colleagues to develop and implement innovative strategy to better respond to evolving client need on a range of distinct and diverse client portfolios across all construction product lines, including, but not limited to, Contract Works, Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, Marine Transit and Delay in Startup policies
  • Engaging key partners internally to ensure that the Construction Practice and Broking brand is held in the highest esteem whilst achieving best in class outcomes for clients.
  • Support colleagues in conducting negotiations with senior underwriters and executives within the carriers.
  • Support colleagues to prepare underwriting submissions and the creation of Request for Proposal documents.
  • Participating in the direction and Implementation/execution of our Insurer Engagement strategy.
  • Supporting the Construction Practice on hard to place accounts and providing both technical and placement guidance on a casebycase basis.
  • Matching and developing insurance programs that meet the contractual regimes of client's construction projects

How this opportunity is different


This role also supports the National Construction Practice group with technical advice on policy structure, program options and claims advocacy.

This role will be supporting all divisions within Aon with a particular focus on assisting the growth plans for National and Affinity.

Assisting the Aon Housing Industry Association Insurance Services division with strategic placements also forms part of the role.


Skills and experience that will lead to success:

  • An in-depth understanding of Insurance products and policy wordings, from either a broking or underwriting background
  • A high degree of Insurance acumen and the ability to think objectively on sophisticated matters.
  • Outstanding negotiation and communication skills
  • A strong personality that can work in an everchanging and fluid role
  • Ability to interpret data and make recommendations on solutions that are consistent with the goals set by the various business leaders
  • An ability to articulate why we have a goto market strategy and what it should look like
  • Have the resilience to deal with conflict and achieve resolution when resistance is present
  • Maintains client focus focuses on building connections with team members and clients
  • Suggests and implements potential improvements to internal/external client deliverables
  • Proactively finds ways for productivity improvement and cost savings
  • Ensures team members are connected and educated on project priorities
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates workload for smaller projects to ensure success
  • Follows corporate travel and expense or procurement policies
