HOBAN Recruitment are currently sourcing experienced Case Managers to work with our client who is an independent statutory agency, responsible for supporting thousands of Australians with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers.


The Rehabilitation Case Manager is accountable under limited direction to undertake complex work that is guided by legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies and precedents.

The position will perform various activities using different, unrelated, but established processes and methods.

The role is responsible for undertaking a range of procedural, operational and administrative activities within a HR environment.

They will be responsible for the provision of efficient, accurate advice and assistance to employees with work and non-work related injuries to return to work in a safe, timely and sustainable manner.


The Project Manager will coordinate and assume responsibility to undertake detailed or sensitive projects that may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes that support the departments objectives to "build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme".


The position is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and may be required to represent and negotiate on behalf of the department to advance the department's interests across a range of forums.


Key skills required for role

  • Case management skills
  • 5+ years' experience in Rehabilitation Case Management or a Work Health and Safety (WHS) discipline
  • Experience in specialist areas including managing illness/injury and return to work, workplace adjustments, policy interpretation, and disability workplace assessments.
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills
  • Satisfactory level of technical, functional, and professional skill
  • Can maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes
  • Previous experience working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must have an understanding in legislations, policies, and procedures
  • Procurement and contract management experience
  • Must be an Australian Citizen

Desirable skills to have for the role

  • Negotiation skills and ability to influence (role works with stakeholders at all levels of the Agency)
  • Policy writing skills and interpretation.
  • Formal qualifications in disability, WHS and/or safety related discipline

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing sound advice to clients and stakeholders regarding Early Intervention, Compensation and related HR issues.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders to support the Early Intervention and Compensation Case Management frameworks.
  • Resolving problems using knowledge and experience, and take the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
  • Initiating, coordinating and monitoring an injured or ill employee's workplace rehabilitation program.
  • Connecting and coordinating people involved in the return to work process.
  • Promoting the health benefits of good work, early intervention and the organisation's return to work approach.
  • Assisting the Agency to provide suitable employment for injured or ill employees.
  • Coordinating the employer's responses to requests for information about the employee, their injury or illness, and their rehabilitation.
  • Maintaining appropriate records and ensure relevant worker's compensation forms are completed.
  • Ensuring the Agency complies with the Guidelines for Rehabilitation Authorities Instrument 2019.
