- Provide technical guidance and support to both the Leadership team and projects to establish and maintain a culture focused on HSE and driving business enhancements.
- Support the implementation of HSE strategies, systems, and initiatives across the region, reporting progress to regional and Group leadership teams.
- Develop and conduct HSE education, compliance, and improvement programs for employees, clients, contractors, and visitors.
- Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency and continuous enhancement of HSE management systems and practices across the organization.
- Oversee rehabilitation and return to work processes.
- Ensure robust HSE risk management processes and maintain focus and discipline in the region.
- Supervise and ensure quality investigations for all Class 1 & 2 incidents, with actions to prevent recurrences.
- Provide oversight of the effectiveness of HSE systems implementation within the region, reporting on the health and effectiveness of HSE systems to regional leadership.
- Offer expert HSE advice and input during tendering, project planning, and project delivery.
- Maintain comprehensive records, manage company and statutory HSE reporting requirements, and analyze data to drive continuous improvement.
- Build positive relationships with key stakeholders, including Government Agency representatives.
- Represent Building in supporting broader business-wide HSC initiatives.
- Stay updated on relevant legal, regulatory, and company requirements related to HSE, ensuring staff are informed of any changes and their impacts.
- Communicate HSE matters and improvement opportunities to management and staff as needed.
- Review high-risk planned works to ensure compliance with work methods.
- Conduct all duties following JH policies, processes, systems, and procedures.
- Experienced HSE Practitioner in Building/Construction with significant onsite experience.
- Passionate about driving change and governance across Building projects.
- Generalist Quality Management expertise.
- Strong knowledge and application of Audit Management practices.
- Experience in driving project system implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in Stakeholder engagement with internal and external parties.
- Willingness to travel across projects in the region.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Science, Safety, Environment Management, Sustainability, or related fields.
- Postgraduate qualifications in relevant areas such as Safety, Environment, Project Management, or Risk.
- Safety Lead Auditor Qualification, Internal Environmental Auditor Qualification, Diploma of Quality Auditing.

About the role
The Operations Safety Manager NSW/ACT plays a critical role in supporting the region by implementing strategies and programs for Health, Safety, and Environment Systems. The focus is also on fostering a culture that prioritizes HSE effectively.
