About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an opportunity for a Structural Change Lead to join our Hunter Class Frigate program based in Melbourne or Adelaide, reporting to the Engineering Manager of Structures.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

As the Structural Change Lead you will be responsible for the forecasting, scheduling and implementation of design changes, ensuring the accurate, safe and on time development or modification of structural design, systems and materials.

You will also be a technical interface with the broader engineering team, change configuration team and sustainment and procurement personnel.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Assess design changes for their impact on the structural engineering domain, including impact on hours and schedules.
  • Take ownership of structural driven change, presenting the details of these changes to wider engineering, supply chain and management teams.
  • Oversee and track the successful implementation of structures owned change and structures change tasks deriving from changes owned by other domains, ensuring they are completed to agreed schedule and budget.
  • Provide project engineering leadership to structural engineering activities conducted by the structural team.
  • Provide an interface between project team and management and customer representatives.
  • Develop appropriate strategies for effective management and monitoring of structural changes.
  • Perform design, review and lead structural tasks as required.
About YOU

  • Civil/Naval Architecture/Aerospace/Mechanical degree qualified and satisfying the requirements for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
  • Significant experience as a professional Engineer, with demonstrated experience in delivering and managing engineering services, preferably within the defence industry.
  • Demonstrated experience gained in the management of engineering teams, projects and stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Windchill or other PLM system.
