The Role:


The Principal Commercial and Economic Analyst reports to the Manager, Investment Analysis and Policy and is responsible for the provision of quantitative and qualitative economic, industry and company-specific analysis.

Allowing Invest SA to identify significant investment and economic opportunities for South Australia, including concise and timely preparation of research and economic reporting to Invest SA.


The Principal Commercial and Economic Analyst proactively identifies and provides support in the pursuit of international (and interstate) investment attraction opportunities, which create high value-adding industries and sustainable jobs across key industry sectors aligned with the State's economic priorities and the State's targeted regions and engagement strategies.


About You:

To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of key national and international trends and influences that affect the State's economy, trade, investment, labour market and business growth.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets, draw meaningful insights, and formulate actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and methods, and data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI and/or similar). Experience and knowledge of T-SQL, Python, or other statistical software will be seen as desirable.
  • Detail oriented with strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously from multiple teams and meeting tight deadlines.
  • A team player that has a collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills that can work effectively across multiple teams, with the ability to influence decisionmaking through data driven insights.

Desirable Qualification:

Appropriate tertiary qualification in finance, economics, commerce, and/or related disciplines.


Special Conditions


Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment.

A renewal will be required every 3 years.


Remuneration:

ASO7 - $106,512 min - $115,137 max
