As a Senior Communications Officer in our External Communications team, you will play a part in shaping the future of one of Australia's most important institutions.

A natural collaborator and adept communicator, you will work closely with senior executives and teams throughout the Bank to understand their communication challenges.

You will advise on and execute communication programs, planning and producing messaging and content that engages and connects.


You will work across all public-facing channels, spotting opportunities for improvement and helping to build the Bank's external communications function.

You will also provide specialist advice and support for sensitive or complex communications as well as various day-to-day activities, including public and media engagement, social media and assisting senior staff prepare for public appearances.

Your background

We are seeking an ambitious and driven communications specialist to continue to drive the External Communications team's key initiatives.

Your strong stakeholder management and communication skills, resilience, and personable nature will help set you up for success in this key role.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Experience in corporate communications or as a journalist covering the business sector
  • A flair for producing compelling communications and distilling complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders to design, produce and gain approval for content for all communication channels to meet the needs of individual business areas and the Bank more broadly
  • Experience in issues management and handling sensitive information
  • Experience using analytics, research insights and feedback from users to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement


Your qualifications- Tertiary qualifications in communication, journalism or public relations.- Experience in economics, financial services, the payments industry or related fields will be highly regarded.

Your team

You will be working in the Communications Division of Secretary's Department - the Bank's corporate affairs group.

The division provides advice on and execution of external and Bank-wide internal communication programs, manages media relationships and public enquiries and maintains the RBA's websites.

Reporting to the Manager, Communications (External), you'll work closely with fellow communication specialists, editors, in-house digital designers and web developers.

The role provides formal and informal opportunities to develop your skills while working with different departments within the Bank.
