Band - Salary Range $76,355 to $87,925 per annum Pro Rata + 11% Super

The Opportunity


Council's Young Communities services unit is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to optimise the wellbeing and resilience of young people aged years and their families through the identification, design, establishment, and delivery of inclusive, adaptable, and accessible programs.

You will be responsible for establishing and maximising relationships with organisations to improve outcomes for young people and advocate for their needs.


As an Engagement & Activation Officer within the Young Communities services unit, you will be responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating a range of educational, recreational and youth consultation programs targeted at young people, in response to identified needs within the municipality.


Reporting to the Team Leader Engagement & Activation, you develop strategies and plans to engage with community, young people and stakeholders for a range of programs and services targeted at young people aged 12-25 years.

In response to identified needs across the municipality consistent with Council's strategic priorities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a range of youth activities, services and events that address the needs of young people within the municipality.
  • Develop and maintain systems for engagement, evaluation, reporting and collation of key information to contribute to the development of strategic and operational planning.
  • Undertake a range of engagement/consultation initiatives through various means, including but not limited to facetoface, surveys and target groups.

About you

_ To be successful in this role you will have the following:_

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Development and Welfare or a related discipline with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, facilitation and evaluation of a wide range of programs events and activities for young people.
  • Ability to liaise and work effectively with the broader community and other service providers within a community development context.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
