The Role
The APS 6 Contract Management Officer provides oversight and supports all aspects of contract management and procurement activities within CASG's Disposal Services Branch; providing detailed contract management technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex Defence disposals supporting the planning and project management of disposals, including:

  • Procurement planning, tendering and contract formation and management activities for the Branch, including under standing offer panel arrangements.
  • Deliver and maintain accurate contract management and procurement documentation and records, manage their status and other reporting.
  • Ensure all work is achieved under appropriate legislative and policy obligations, including risk and performance requirements.


The position requires knowledge of and compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks, government decision making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.

This includes the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, and Accountable Authority Instructions.


About our Team

The Disposal Services Branch is responsible and accountable:

  • For the efficient and effective disposal of ex-military platforms and other operational Defence equipment, except for ICT and estate;
  • For facilitating disposal of Defence assets and inventory through means of GovernmenttoGovernment or commercial sale, gifting or recycling in accordance with approved disposal plans;
  • For ensuring all activities are compliant and in line with current legislation and policy;
  • Ensuring that disposals stand up to public and audit scrutiny; and
  • For ensuring the optimal net outcome for Defence and the Commonwealth.

  • Have experience in contract management and procurement, ideally within a Defence or Government environment.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written skills and will be an effective team member, working as part of a dynamic business unit team.
