Job Description:


An excellent opportunity is available for a Human Ethics Advisor to join the Governance, Risk and Compliance team at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the Position


As Human Ethics Advisor, you will provide specialist advise to researchers and the Human Research Ethics Committee to ensure that research with human participants is designed and conducted ethically and responsibly.

You will also work collaboratively with key stakeholders and colleagues to support the review, development and implementation of improvements to the Human Research Ethics framework to ensure that ethical review and oversight of processes for human research are effective and efficient.

Selection Criteria


Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • A postgraduate science or biomedical degree and/or relevant experience in a similar role
  • Extensive experience in the development of human research projects, in particular, addressing the relevant ethical considerations in research design and planning
  • Sound knowledge and practical understanding of the ethical framework for human research (including National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and relevant legislation, regulation and compliance frameworks)
  • Demonstrable understanding of the ethical issues in biomedical and clinical research contexts
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to interpret policies and regulatory requirements and convey complex information that is fitforpurpose and actionable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in conveying complex ideas and concepts
  • Strong interpersonal skills to negotiate and influence; to build relationships and to work effectively with stakeholders and people across all levels in an organisation.
  • Highly organised and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver continuous improvement to organizational processes

Personal Qualities:

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and, as required, collaboratively with colleagues across different teams to deliver outcomes
  • Ability to exercise mature judgement to support decisionmaking processes
Terms of Appointment

This position is available for one year in a full time capacity.

Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 7 ($97,991 - $106,076). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
