About the role:

- receiving, processing, storing and documenting biological specimens from the RMH Neuroimmunology Centre
- carrying out laboratory procedures: processing of serum, plasma, PBMC, CSF supernatant & cells, sample storage, quality control and other procedures as required
- developing and maintaining SOPs
- liaising with relevant stakeholders - clinicians and researchers
- maintaining relevant laboratory equipment
- limited role in training of higher degree students (in laboratory procedures)
- contribute information to laboratory and research reports

This position is a Fixed-term, part time role (2.5 days per week), ceasing 14 March 2025. Irregular hours and flexible work arrangements will be considered.

The role attracts an annual salary offer of Higher Education Worker 5 (HEW 5-1) $69,470 pro rata, commensurate with experience.

About you:


  • Diploma: >=2 years of relevant work experience
  • Advanced Diploma or B

Sc:
>=1 year of relevant work experience

  • Qualifications: Diploma and >=2 years of relevant work experience / Advanced Diploma and >=1 year of relevant work experience / BSc (no relevant experience required)
  • Familiar with principles of laboratory research, general laboratory procedures
  • Understanding of sample processing, documentation, storage and monitoring
  • Proven ability to scope laboratory reports
Experience with the below is desirable, but not essential:

  • hands-on experience with PBMC processing
