Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is looking for a suitably qualified Health Clinician to join their friendly Whole Family Team, which is based at the Gateway Centre, Gosford.

About You

  • A current Australian Drivers licence and willingness to travel for work

What you'll be doing


Family Clinician's in the Whole Family Team (WFT) provide specialist interventions that work towards the recovery and ongoing safety and wellbeing of families and their children involved with the child protection system.

It's a rewarding time to be working in NSW Health Violence Abuse and Neglect (VAN) services.

With new policy and enhancements to our response to all forms of violence, the critical work with our agency partners is increasingly important to provide a seamless and trauma informed response to vulnerable children and families.

The Family Clinician's and Aboriginal Family Clinician in Whole Family Team (WFT) provide specialist interventions for families with parental Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol.

The clinicians with the support of the Clinical Leads - Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol, Medical staff and Child and Family Health Nurse provide specialist interventions in close collaboration with Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) as well as other health services, relevant government and non-government agencies.

The focus is on strengthening parenting capacity so children can safely remain with their family.

Families are referred into the program where Risk of Significant Harm (ROSH) has been identified due to the presence of parental mental health and/or drug and alcohol.

Family members may also be experiencing Violence Abuse or Neglect such as Domestic Violence. Specialist interventions are provided in the community and in the home.

WFT is a key service working in the family preservation area and is part of the Violence Abuse and Neglect - Family Services Unit.

The team forms part of the District's integrated Violence Abuse and Neglect Service.


You will work closely with colleagues and leadership within VAN Services and more broadly across the health service to facilitate recovery, integrated and trauma informed care that is holistic and seamless.

Targeted training and development is provided to support the team to be innovative, culturally safe and evidence based to develop and deliver effective and sound interventions that operationalise the NSW Health Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect _(PARVAN) _Framework_, _Service Standards, Guidelines and_ _relevant Policy and Procedures.


This role is suitable for the following:

  • Occupational Therapist Level
  • Psychologist
  • Social Work Level 3.
