About the role


An exciting opportunity exists for registered Building Practitioners and Architects to utilise their industry experience and knowledge to support a specialised Building Assessment team within Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV).


As part of a small team of Building Assessors you will be responsible for working with homeowners and industry practitioners to examine building work and provide technical advice and reports, based on your knowledge of building codes and standards, to parties to assist them in resolving disputes.

There are 2 ongoing positions available. The work location for these positions is 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.


About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Working knowledge of the Building Act 1993, Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 and building regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Demonstrated domestic building experience including the interpretation of plans, specifications and other documentation which constitutes a domestic building contract for the purposes of assessing whether building work carried out is in accordance with the contract documentation and legislation and standards governing domestic building work
  • Understanding and knowledge of the Building Act 1993 and the associated regulations, Domestic Building Contracts Act 1995 and associated regulations, National Construction Code and associated Acts and Codes and the Guide to Standards and Tolerances.
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain registration as a registered building practitioner with the Victorian Building Authority under the Building Act 1993 or an Architect registered under the Architects Act 199
  • Hold a current Victorian Drivers Licence.
