About the role
About you

  • Ability to combine your lived experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family structures, culture, practices and protocols with advanced management skills and advanced health knowledge and understanding of historical practices to deliver culturally responsive services.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and manage cultural services by using your cultural expertise, community connections and leadership skills to establish strong relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within West Moreton Health.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (including patients, carers, and communities) within a healthrelated context with a clear understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, protocols and health related policies.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to progress implementation of First Nations Health Equity objectives at all levels within the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, antidiscrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour

Mandatory Requirements:


  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/1
  • Vaccinated against COVID19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a person who:

- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Islander person; and
- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Islander descent; and
- is accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.
