About the Role

Leading and managing the Risk, Insurance and Audit area, this position is responsible for leading, managing and delivering Council's risk management program through the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Fraud Prevention Framework, Audit and Risk Committee, Audit program and Business Continuity.


Leading a team of three staff, this role provides strategic leadership across the organisation to strengthen Council's operations and ensure best practice in areas relating to risk, audit, business continuity and improvement.


  • Provide leadership in the areas of integrity, risk and resilience
  • Identify and analyse business risks and develop risk controls
  • Develop, implement and review business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Deliver a business improvement program to support improvements to service quality
  • Oversee Council's insurance program
  • People management including workforce planning, recruitment and induction, performance management and professional development

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s and several years of achievement in public sector governance, business management, quality assurance and/or risk management
  • Capability to effectively lead and manage staff
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practice management of risk, insurance, audit, business continuity and compliance
  • Sound working knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Sounds financial management and strategic planning skills relevant
  • Accreditation in ISO 31000 or ISO 22301 would be an advantage
