About Us


CatholicCare Sydney has been contracted to deliver the Carer Gateway Community Forum and other digital services for the Department of Social Services.

This Online Forum brings together unpaid carers from across Australia, to support and learn from one another and is moderated 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

We are the official social services agency of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Sydney.

We are a leading not-for-profit agency providing care and support to people in Sydney across a wide range of social services: children and families, relationships, ageing, disability, employment, mental health, and youth programs.


About the Role


The Moderator ensures the provision of a safe, welcoming, and anonymous space for carers, assists in the development and provision of appropriate content for the Forum, and collaborates with the team to promote the growth of the Forum and support programs for user engagement.

This position also contributes toward the team's contractual obligations by working on other platforms, including Facebook, by facilitating accurate data collection and reporting, and contributing to any modifications to the service which may be required.


Position Details

:


  • 12.5 hours weekly plus opportunities to take on additional day and evening shifts as required.
    The Forum operates 8am to 11pm (AEST) and 12pm (AEDT).

  • Weekday shift: 8am to 4pm,
  • Sunday shift: 12pm5pm

The Moderator must live in NSW as you will be required to attend initial induction, as well as occasional training and team meetings in our Lewisham office.

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience in online community management/moderation/social networking.
  • Highly developed technical skills, and an ability to pick up new technical tools quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Also essential is demonstrated social and emotional intelligence skills, such as teamwork, conflict resolution and active listening skills, as well as an understanding of risk and crisis for vulnerable populations.
  • Good administrative and organisational skills, flexibility, and the capacity to respond calmly to a changing environment are also essential, as well as some availability for additional shifts (day and evening) across a 7 day per week roster.
  • Experience and/or training in community services, counselling, mental health, or related fields is highly desirable. Lived experience as a carer would be looked upon favourably.
