The Opportunity:


We are currently seeking two Packing Team Leaders in the Boning Room Department - one for the morning and one for the afternoon shift.

As a team leader, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of skilled workers and ensuring that all operations within the boning room are carried out efficiently and effectively.

This includes monitoring production targets, ensuring the quality of the products, and enforcing compliance with all safety procedures.

This role provides an excellent opportunity for you to develop and implement new strategies that can drive continuous improvement in the operations of the boning room.

The Role

  • Authority to stop production to hold product where there is a nonconformance with a customer requirement, an arrangement or any relevant regulation.
  • Manage time effectively so duties carried out by operators are in accordance with SOPs & WIs
  • Regularly monitor the Product line and rectify any defects.
  • Undertake duties relating to AUS MEAT and Meat Standards Australia.
  • Ensure temperature requirements and residency time parameters are met at designated times and rectified when found non conforming.
  • Complete all alert notifications &/or action requests as soon as possible.
  • Ensure requirements are met when producing MSA, Saudi and Non
  • Halal cattle.
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment is worn.
  • Instigate immediate corrective action when a zero tolerance is detected, or a nonconformance is sighted.
  • Assist the Boning Room Manager in ensuring sufficient manning to maintain product safety and integrity. Adjust chain speed to manning levels to ensure product integrity and assist in packing area buildup.
  • Assist in the Packing area when required.
  • Ensure all operators performing tasks are qualified or accompanied by a trainer.
  • Assist with mentoring new staff
  • The ability to overlap shifts and assist with supervision at both ends of the Boning Room.
  • Assist with incident reports and investigations for Safety.
  • Reconcile numbers after the Kill Floor is finished to ensure the Chillers and Packing area understand the plan
  • Liaise with Muslim representative for callout plan for Non-Halal
  • Liaise with the Vet regarding arrival time for Downers

Selection Criteria

  • Certificate 2 Meat Processing
  • AUS MEAT standards officer
  • MSA Qualifications
  • Beef Specifications Level 2 Pass

Skills & Experience Required

  • Understand the Safety Requirements in the meat industry
  • The knowledge to identify defects in product
  • Maximise revenue from primal and trim cuts
  • Previous experience in a Leading Hand role
  • QA Experience is beneficial in identifying food safety risks
