The Role

In the Doctrine Architecture Manager role you will be accountable to establish, lead and maintain the overarching ADF Doctrine architecture and standardised doctrine management process and systems (including doctrine synopsis and interdependency products).

You will manage and lead Doctrine Directorate's delivery of best-practice doctrine development processes and doctrine development training.


You will be responsible for the coordination and planning of intra-Defence and intra-Government engagement with various doctrine houses (including international engagement with foreign military doctrine houses representing the Department of Defence at allies and partner events).

You will allocate specific deliverables to staff with consideration to workloads, abilities, experience and externally imposed priorities and for assigning human resources against secondary or non-doctrine publication tasks while balancing doctrine-specific mandated outcomes.


You will additionally manage the Application level hierarchy and deliveries against the Doctrine Management Plan ensuring that produced publications are consistent with overarching doctrine / content in the higher publication layers.

You will provide written and verbal guidance to geographically disparate internal Doctrine Directorate staff, external Sponsors and appointed representatives (cascading from 3 Star / Band 3 appointments down), as well as assigned authors (senior military leaders and/or contracted specialists).


About our Team
The Doctrine Directorate operates within the Joint Warfare Development Branch, Force Integration Division.

Our mission is to coordinate and support delivery of ADF doctrine by Sponsors in order to promote the interoperability and professional mastery of the joint force; our role is to codify ADF doctrinal constructs for the current ADF or Force in Being.

We are an integrated, geographically dispersed team comprised of ADF, APS and contracted staff.
