Location - Parramatta with flexible/hybrid working

Employment type - Ongoing, full-time (35 hours per week)

Salary - $134,411 - $155,445 plus super and leave loading (Clerk Grade 11/12)

About Us


The Ageing and Disability Commission (ADC) was established on 1 July 2019 to protect and promote the rights of adults with disability and older people, and safeguard them from abuse, neglect and exploitation in their family, home and community.


Among other things, the ADC's functions include:

  • responding to allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people, including by providing advice, making referrals and conducting investigations
- raising awareness and educating the public about matters relating to abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people
- inquiring into and reporting on systemic issues relating to the protection and promotion of the rights, or the abuse, neglect and exploitation, of adults with disability and older people
- administering the Official Community Visitor scheme.


About the role


The
Manager Investigations ensures that we conduct investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people efficiently and with a high degree of expertise.


The role sits in the ADC's Community Supports and Investigations Unit and manages a small team that conducts inquiries and investigations and takes appropriate further action to protect the adults with disability or older people from abuse, neglect and exploitation.


What you'll do

Key responsibilities of the Manager include:

  • conducting, and managing a team that conducts investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people, and taking further action as needed to protect the adult
- ensuring that investigative practices and processes, including interviews, are conducted in a thorough, ethical and professional manner and adhere to best practice standards
- providing effective leadership and supervision of staff, and ensuring that assessments and investigations are completed efficiently, to a high standard, and in line with legislative and policy requirements
- identifying risks and making timely and sound decisions to protect the safety and wellbeing of adults with disability and older people

  • Sound analytical skills and experience in conducting and managing high quality investigations into sensitive matters.
  • Commitment to the rights of adults with disability and older people.
  • Experience in communicating with people with diverse needs on difficult and sensitive matters.
  • A team player who is skilled at fostering a productive and supportive work environment.
