About the Business Unit

Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) is Victoria's consumer regulator. Our vision is a fair and competitive marketplace in Victoria.


We:

- provide information to business, consumers, landlords and tenants about their rights and responsibilities
- register and license organisations and occupations
- ensure compliance with consumer laws, and
- review and advise government about Victoria's consumer protection framework.

The outcomes we are working to achieve for the Victorian community are:

  • businesses that comply with consumer laws,
  • Victorians who exercise their consumer rights
- a fair and safe rental market for Victorians.


Regulatory Services includes the following:


  • Information and Analysis provides strategic and operational intelligence and analysis to the organisation, and manages CAV's compliance data and other information.
  • Investigation Services delivers compliance and enforcement functions including investigating businesses and individuals alleged to have breached consumer protection law in Victoria.
  • Regulatory Transaction Services provides CAV's licence and registration processing function, maintains and regulates nonprofit and business entities, and manages a range of public and nonpublic registers.
  • Performance and Outcomes ensures Regulatory Services is contributing to CAV's outcomes framework as well as overseeing strategic project delivery and continuous improvement practice. The branch also oversees the operational compliance risk framework and governance of the Compliance Operating Group and Compliance Committee
About the Role


As a Team Leader you will:

  • Lead and develop a team responsible for executing the RTS' regulatory activities, ensuring accurate, timely and professional services are provided so as to meet or exceed RTS goals and targets.
  • Responsibly and efficiently exercise powers under delegated decisionmaking in line with operational policy and legislation.
  • Ensure adherence to legislation and operational policies by team members.
  • Drive the development of team members, utilising coaching and training based on individual and business needs.

  • Experience in supervising operational staff in a publicsector environment

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal.

This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).


Acceptable evidence includes:


  • COVID19 digital certificate (available via your myGov account)
  • Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)
Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
