Position Information:

Auburn Public School has an enrolment of 490 students with 98% of students coming from a non-English speaking background. The school caters for a diverse community, evident in the cultural backgrounds of students who attend the school. Auburn Public School supports students with additional needs through a special education support unit. The school is located on a split site in Sydney's south-western suburbs.

Auburn Public School provides high quality educational programs with a strong emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy, Wellbeing and Technology. Extracurricular opportunities are provided in Music, Technology and Sport.

Selection Criteria:


In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary the capacity to initiate, lead and evaluate a culture of continuous improvement in literacy and numeracy driven by data informed practice, expert curriculum knowledge, and evidence-based research to maximise student learning outcomes.


An approachable leader with highly developed communication and interpersonal skills that foster wellbeing and builds positive relationships with staff, students and the wider community.

Demonstrated ability to provide differentiated, high impact professional learning that strengthens the capabilities of teachers and leaders.


General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
