A renowned Government Department in Brisbane CBD has partnered with

Public Sector People to recruit an

AO8 People and Culture Manager for a temporary contract position of 6 months, which may be extended or result in a direct appointment to a vacant FTE internal role.

As the Manager of People and Culture, your role will involve:

Leading teams to provide a range of workforce management services, such as policy development and implementation, talent acquisition, business partnering, technical HR advice, case management, union liaison, and workforce reporting.


Providing specialized advice to executive and senior management to ensure a capable, engaged, and healthy workforce and to identify and mitigate people-related risks.

Ensuring that services are aligned with and promote contemporary public sector workforce objectives.

Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, this position will manage a team of seven (7),

Your responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Providing leadership and management to a team of people and culture practitioners, who will deliver expert HR advice and consultancy services in areas such as establishment management, talent acquisition, recruitment and selection, employment conditions, policy interpretation, performance and conduct management, case management, union liaison, and workforce reporting.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior and executive leaders in the Department
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and systems to provide sound governance.
  • Leading strategic and operational projects that align with the Department's workforce priorities.
  • Overseeing all aspects of the Department's Agency Consultative Committee and representing the Department on other committees, boards, and communities of practice as required.
  • Developing and delivering meaningful data reports and insights that enable evidencebased decisionmaking, mitigate risks, and maximize opportunities to build a capable, engaged, and healthy workforce.
  • Managing budget and resource planning to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of operational people and culture services.
  • Coaching and developing a professionally strong, competent, collaborative, innovative, and resilient team.
  • Contributing to a positive and safe work environment by modelling and promoting conduct that is culturally capable, inclusive, respectful, and ethical.

About you

  • 2+ years working in a similar role within Government.
  • Qualifications in a human resources or industrial relationsrelated discipline would be highly regarded.
  • Excellent Stakeholder engagement skills
  • Sound knowledge of Government policies and procedures
  • A proven Manager who is up for a new challenge
