Position Overview

The role of Project Officer is within the Business Support team and aids in the delivery of project, digital and technical support to the President, Registrar, Members and staff to assist with performing their specific functions and responsibilities under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).

The Project Officer works closely with the Project Coordinators as part of the Business Support team.

This role will suit someone who has strong customer/client experience, problem-solving skills and the ability to complete tasking in a high paced multi-disciplinary environment.

The person will have the relevant technical and digital communication competencies or the ability to learn as they go.

They will also need to be comfortable working independently and constructively across a broad range of activities, communicating with a diverse range of people.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Project Coordinators in the delivery of projects, briefings, reports or related activities that contribute to the support of the Tribunal's core functions and responsibilities.
  • Project planning and research, documentation development, digital administration, information management, training and governance support.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of collaborative working relationships within the NNTT, Federal Court and broader entity.
  • Identify concerns and assist in the development of suitable solutions.
  • Assist with the testing of new systems and remedying issues or problems as they arise.
  • Assist with the maintenance and ongoing development and improvement of the NNTT's various digital, information and communications platforms and supporting processes.

Qualifications

Qualifications demonstrating Information Management, information technology, project delivery, administration, research, communication and critical thinking skills, while not essential, would be an advantage.


Selection Criteria

  • Possess and demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Possess and demonstrate an ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Demonstrated oral and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and build and sustain a network of positive working relationships with key people, internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to function effectively with demanding and conflicting priorities, and deliver outcomes as part of a cohesive team.
  • Proven ability to think strategically, exercise sound judgment and the ability to generate new ideas, opportunities and strategies where appropriate as well as support and motivate staff during the implementation of organisationwide change
  • Proven ability to act impartially, confidentially and flexibly and operate within the boundaries of organisational processes, constraints and APS values.
