2025 Obstetrics & Gynaecology Registrar (Unaccredited)

Fixed term, full time for 2025 Clinical Year

86 hours per fortnight

About the role

  • Ballarat comprises the Base Hospital (221 acute beds), Queen Elizabeth Centre (Sub Acute Care 70 beds) and Psychiatric Services (67 beds). New short stay unit and modern, emergency, critical care, ambulatory, aged care and rehabilitation facilities uniquely integrate inpatient, ambulatory, community and homebased services.   • Ballarat is a major training site for the University of Melbourne and Deakin Rural Clinical Schools. Senior staff are strongly committed to teaching and the professional development of Interns, HMOs and Registrars.
The O&G department sees approximately 1300 deliveries each year, and has multiple gynaecology theatre sessions each week.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical management of O&G patients at both outpatient and inpatient levels and the supervision of and adequate documentation of their clinical care. This will be under the supervision of Consultant staff
  • Attendance at antenatal and gynaecology outpatients and labour ward as rostered.
  • Effective liaison with midwifery and other nursing staff to ensure a high standard of clinical care.
  • Provide assistance at theatre as required for Gynaecology and Obstetric patients; and undertake surgical procedures under supervision.

Skills and experience

  • MBBS or equivalent degree enabling registration with the Medical Board of Victoria
  • Satisfactory completion of at least two postgraduate years.
  • Preferable: FSEP competency in CTG course with RANZCOG.
  • Preferable: experience working in O and G for at least 12 months as a resident.
