We are currently seeking a Principal -Talent Management & Organisational Development to join our experienced and supportive team.

Reporting to the Group Manager Human Resources, this role will provide a comprehensive strategy that encompasses organisational design, leadership development, talent management, succession planning and change management functions.

This role will be based in our Melbourne office.

  • Establishing the annual talent assessment process and framework with a focus on the identification of critical skills, retention, career progression, succession planning, and closing/addressing any identified talent gaps;
  • Leading the development and implementation of the 29Metals Employee Value Proposition (EVP) (Including the development of key communication materials) ensuring the 29Metals brand is represented positively across all channels to attract the required talent to the 29Metals business;
  • Through effective partnering with the leadership team across the business, ensure that individuals are placed in roles that align with organisational objectives, recognising the significant impact on both individual and overall performance and retention;
  • Partnering with the leaders to facilitate the movements of individuals into their identified "next move" positions, including early identification and management of any blockers / talent risks;
  • Acting as an internal talent broker, ensuring the growth and development of individuals at various levels takes place by equipping line managers with tools, coaching, and support to create individual development plans for their team members;
  • Supporting the Group Manager of Human Resources in the development and implementation of a detailed capability framework and workforce plan to deliver on future staffing needs. This includes conducting a talent risk assessment, identifying new role requirements, and developing a local and international focussed talent strategy;
  • Working with the talent acquisition team to proactively implement the talent strategy and address any identified talent risks.

What we are looking for:


  • Bachelor's degree in HRM or a related business discipline;
  • Minimum 7+yrs. experience;
  • Proven experience in a similar role in heavy industry;
  • Stakeholder Management;
  • Solid experience in Talent Management & Succession Planning;
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to engage with and communicate effectively with key stakeholder across all levels;
  • Employee Value Proposition development and implementation;
  • Strong facilitation and coaching capability;
  • Subject matter expert in talent assessments and managing talent risk;
  • Subject matter expertise in capability frameworks and assessment and development planning;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively communicating with senior audiences with clarity, impact, influence, and translating data into executive and boardlevel insights.
