As such, we need a Gender Diversity Program Officer to join our team

The Industry Capability and Inclusion team seeks to encourage more women to join and stay in transport through initiatives like the 'Women in Transport' (WiT) program.

The program is underpinned by the Women in Transport Strategy , which aims to remove the barriers that have limited diverse gender representation in the sector, and improve outcomes such as participation and earning for women.

The Gender Diversity Program Officer is a critical role responsible for supporting the dynamic Industry Capability and Inclusion (ICI) team.

Reporting to the Inclusion and Social Procurement Advisor, and working closely with the Department of Transport, the Gender Diversity Program Officer is primarily responsible for the coordination and facilitation of programs such as WiT Mentoring and WiT Leadership Development Scholarship, ensuring they are delivered in an efficient and integrated way across Victoria.

This opportunity suits a proactive, highly organised program administrator and facilitator, who has an interest in gender diversity and inclusion in transport and rail infrastructure.

The key to success is someone who can demonstrate initiative and problem solving in their day-day tasks and who will enjoy a mixture of routine administration, event coordination, learning & development content development, and workshop facilitation to large audiences (up to 500 people).

On a day-to-day basis you will be coordinating the mentor and scholarship programs (within existing program frameworks) with tasks that include:

  • Designing & facilitating professional development workshops, networking events and information sessions.
  • Providing administrative and corporate support, responding to a wide range of queries and addressing issues.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders such as Communications teams, to ensure webpages, social media channels, intranet pages, etc are up to date and program outcomes are showcased.
  • Developing and implementing evaluation tools, such as surveys and interviews, to assess program effectiveness and identify program improvements.
  • Preparing correspondence and reporting on program outcomes, including providing written updates for inclusion in monthly, quarterly and annual reports, along with other ad hoc reporting requirements.
  • Coordinating the engagement of vendors and the procurement process.


At times the role may also be required to support other capability, diversity, and inclusion programs within the Industry Capability and Inclusion team.

The Gender Diversity Program Officer position is a 3-year fixed term contract, paying between $90,067 - $102,192 + super with a hybrid working arrangement.

This includes a combination of working from home and the office in the CBD.

Let's get technical What will we expect from you?

  • Experience working in programs addressing gender equality and diversity and a demonstrated understanding of how to remove barriers that limit diverse gender representation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mentoring and scholarship programs.
  • Experience in facilitation to individuals and groups.
  • Experience in and/or understanding of working within a learning and development environment, with the ability to adapt the content, style, message and tone of a presentation to suit the audience.
  • Experience with program administration and event coordination in a fastpaced environment.
  • An ability to recognise behaviours that promote a culture of inclusion and hold self and team accountable towards being inclusive to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
