The Team

Join the Indigenous Electoral Participation Program (IEPP) team, a group dedicated to facilitating the participation of eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals in the democratic process. The team focuses on promoting:

  • Enrolment for voting
  • Voting in electoral events
  • Opportunities for involvement in electoral activities

The Role

Contribute significantly to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in Australian elections. Engage in the planning, development, and delivery of culturally sensitive electoral services in Victoria.

To succeed, you should:

  • Have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by First Nations people.
  • Demonstrate culturally appropriate communication skills and collaborate effectively with colleagues, departments, and external partners.
  • Engage with First Nations communities in service provision and strategy development.
  • Propose and implement enhancements for better practices.
  • Disseminate information to maintain community ties.
  • Participate in meetings and events to boost indigenous enrolment.
  • Possess strong communication abilities adaptable to diverse audiences.
  • Support Partner engagement, education, and communication efforts.

Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship is mandatory for AEC employees.
  • Candidates engaging in active political activities or intending to do so publicly may not align with AEC's neutrality standards.
  • Will need to undergo character and security clearance processes.
